QUESTIONS ASKED BY OUR MEMBERS - ANSWERED

Since the launch of One1one Accident Aftercare it has been our privilege to speak to a number of our members who have telephoned us for further details of the scheme. We thought it would be helpful to set out the questions that have been asked together with our answers to help our members better understand the One1one offering.

Q: I have received my One1one Accident Aftercare membership pack; is there anything I need to do to be able to use the One1one service?

A: No. There is nothing else you have to do as you are now a member of One1one. Keep the membership documentation that you printed off - or the membership pack we posted to you, if this is what you asked for instead - in the glove box of your car and then all you have to do is ring the helpline number first in the event of an accident. We also recommend that members put the 24-hour helpline number shown on their membership documentation/card into the contacts list of their mobile phone.

Q: Membership of One1one is free and using the service doesn't cost me anything, so how do you make your money?

A: The principle on which our service is based is that where a member is involved in an accident that is not their fault we recover the cost of repairs to your vehicle, the provision of a replacement vehicle and the cost of pursuing a personal injury claim for an injured member from the at-fault driver's insurers (i.e. from the other side).

Where our member is provided with a replacement vehicle our service provider pays us a commission. Where our solicitors deal with a member's personal injury claim they pay us a case referral fee. It is from these two sources that we make our money.

Q: When I am involved in an accident shouldn't I call my insurer or broker first?

A: There is no need: the One1one service includes reporting the accident to your insurers, as well as contacting the other driver and their insurers. Our slogan is ONE NUMBER, ONE CALL, ONE COMPLETE SERVICE which literally means by calling the One1one helpline number FIRST you can be confident that all appropriate steps are taken on your behalf to sort out the aftermath of an accident. The only thing you need to do is make sure you have the details of the other driver, name, address, vehicle registration number and, if they have the details on them, the details of their insurer.

Q: What's the position if the accident is my fault?

A: If our member's car is legally undrivable as a result of an accident we will recover the vehicle for them if necessary regardless of fault. In other words even if the accident was your fault we will not leave you stranded at the side of the road.

In addition to recovering the vehicle we will give as much advise and assistance as we can to a member even if the accident was their fault. Our trained advisers are there to guide you through the steps that need to be taken following an accident that was your fault.

It is not necessary for our members to decide whether an accident was their fault or not. Just ring the helpline number in the event of an accident and our staff will be able to advise as to whether the accident was your fault or not.

Q: Great service, but what's the catch?

A: We are pleased to say there is no catch. Membership is free and when members use the service there are no hidden costs or charges.

Q: How can members of my family also become members of One1one Accident Aftercare?

A: It couldn't be easier. To get additional membership packs for as many members of your family as you wish you need only go to the Join Now page of our website to register as many other members of your family as you wish COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE.

Q: You say in your membership pack that One1one membership has other benefits, what are they?

A: We want One1one to be able to assist its members not only when they have an accident, but in many other ways too. We provide a range of discounted legal services the details of which can be viewed on our web site. Then there are the excellent discounts we can provide on vehicle servicing, MOTs, tyres, exhausts, etc, etc. Indeed, we are constantly looking for other motoring-related discounts and benefits that we can pass on to our members. The additional benefits that we are able to offer will be advertised on our web site from time to time. We recommend that members visit our website regularly to take advantage of the offers as they appear.

Q: I have a similar package of services to One1one that I paid extra for on my motor insurance; can I still use my One1one membership if I have an accident?

A: Yes. There is absolutely no reason why you can't use your One1one membership in preference to any other similar package sold as an add-on to your motor insurance.

Q: When I renew my motor insurance can I save some money by not taking up the similar product that my insurer or broker tries to sell me as an add-on to my motor insurance?

A: One1one Accident Aftercare is not an alternative to motor insurance which you must have. However, many insurers and brokers will try to sell you a similar package to One1one Accident Aftercare. What we say to our members is simply to consider carefully what you need and look at what your insurer or broker is offering you.

By way of example, One1one Accident Aftercare provides a service to motorists involved in an accident in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Some products offered by insurers and brokers cover accidents in Europe and other parts of the world. You should bear this in mind when considering whether to take up a product offered by an insurer or broker. If One1one provides all the services you are likely to need then you can indeed save yourself some money by using your free membership of One1one rather than paying for the add on product from an insurer or broker.
